Conversion is also known as a transaction in affiliate marketing terms. All purchases or services made by a publishers users is called a conversion.
A conversion happens when someone clicks your affiliate link and completes a specific action on the advertiser’s website.
Common conversion actions include (but not limited to):
- Making a purchase
- Signing up for an account or newsletter
- Submitting a form
- Booking a service (e.g. hotel or flight)
- Downloading an app
These actions are tracked automatically, and they determine whether you earn a commission. Learn more about how conversions are tracked here.
Not all campaigns count the same actions as conversions. Each advertiser sets their own rules.
You can find the conversion criteria for each campaign on its details page - always review it before promoting.
Without conversions, clicks alone don’t earn you commission. It’s the completed action that counts.
In short, conversions are what turn your affiliate traffic into actual earnings.
